The blasphemous boogie monster

Atheists, infidels, non-believers, believers, skeptics, agnostics…even blasphemous boogie monsters are welcome. It’s self-described as a: “worldwide network of godless congregations that meet locally to hear great talks, sing songs and celebrate life”.

There are lots popping up all over the world at the moment and it’s been running in London for a year now. I went to a couple of sessions recently – they had some great guest speakers and the two comedians running the show are friendly and funny.

There’s a great energy to the place with lots of singing, weird Danish clapping games and even mini-raves. Oh and contrary to a genuinely concerned friend’s prediction, it didn’t turn into “one big massive orgie”. In fact it had quite the family vibe to it (there’s a children’s corner, tea, coffee and cakes). The Sunday Assembly also organises charitable projects which you can sign up for.
